The Iliad Through Book 4

bending it back hard the archer strung his bow… (line 131)

Around here I was extremely confused.  It looks like the gods got upset, and started changing sides rapidly, got bored that nothing was happening and picked a fight, and then started side hopping again!  I was even more confused when Athena tells someone to assassinate Melenaus, and then saves Melenaus!   Was she trying to make the other side look bad?  I think that is what was going on… she is the goddess of wisdom after all.
